Your chef at Cradle Chalet Restaurant is Daniel Williams - Daniel and Dorothy Williams are also your hosts at Cradle Chalet. Daniel describes his style as 'ranging from contemporary with Asian influence to good old fashioned comfort food - I like to experiment and this shows in some of the combinations of tastes I present'

Daniel likes to use local produce where possible, such as Smoked Salmon from 41 Degrees South, Cheeses from Ashgrove Cheese Factory and Tasmanian Ocean Trout. Even Whiskey Cream from Helliers Road Distillery in Burnie.

Cradle Chalet Restaurant is open for dinner to the public by reservation. It is also open for lunches for those travelling past and to and from Cradle Mountain.
During the day the restaurant is called Daniel's Kitchen Cafe. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate and fresh home-made, piping-hot soup are perfect for those brisk winter days!

Light meals are also available such as the Chalet Steak Sandwich, (grilled scotch fillet with fried onions, secret sauce and topped with warm semi-dried tomatoes and mixed lettuce all inside a fresh baked Panini bread) see menus

Daniel is more than happy to cater for diners with special dietary requirements and vegetarians, although he does ask for some notice if special meals and ingredients are reguired, as Cradle Chalet is in a remote wilderness area and supplies can take time to organise.
Cradle Chalet's luxury forest chalets and suites have been purpose built to create the a unique wilderness retreat/mountain getaway for couples, singles and other adult groups wanting to enjoy a peaceful and relaxing stay.

Cradle Chalet does not accomodate children.

Both chalets and suites are beautifully appointed, with an enormous amount of thought put into the rooms. In terms of comfort and guest privacy, Cradle Chalet is a romantic getaway in every sense.

The four chalets (two with double spa) and four deluxe suites are all open-plan with antique style queen beds, lounge area (sofa bed, TV/stereo/home entertainment) and individual private verandahs.

All accommodation options and tariffs include a continental breakfast option - so you can have breakfast anytime you want in the morning without leaving the privacy of your chalet or suite.

This level of comfort and appointment has earned all of the chalets and suites their rating as 4.5 star luxury accommodation.
The Deluxe Spa Chalets were designed to both relax and pamper guests with the highest level of luxury. The double-size spa baths massage and soothe the whole body - the ultimate experience after a long day walk.

The private bathrooms are fully tiled, with a separate corner shower - and antique-style queen size beds also add to the romantic atmosphere.

These secluded wilderness chalets are elevated with a viewing veranda on all four sides looking out over Cradle Chalet’s forested grounds.

The Deluxe Chalets share all of the features of the Deluxe Spa Chalets (see above) - excluding the spa baths.

The Deluxe Chalets have a personal hip bath designed for one person, a fully tiled bathroom with a separate corner shower and antique-style queen size beds.

The Deluxe Chalets are also elevated on forest poles with a viewing verandah on all four sides.
The Deluxe Suites retain the luxuries of the Chalets without the spa bath or bath. They do feature a fully tiled ensuite bathroom with a shower.

The Deluxe Suites feature forest views from large private viewing verandahs.

Attractions

The main attraction in the northwest is the spectacular Cradle Mountain but Cradle Chalet is also centrally located just a short drive from a host of other regional attractions ranging from stunning alpine wilderness to salmon, wine, cheese and chocolates!
Latrobe is situated on the banks of the Mersey river and is an historic town known as “the town of antiques”. It has six antique shops and three of them are Reliquaire Antiques with quality antiques and restoration, dolls, teddies, china, furniture, coffee and fudge, spa, sauna and private gym.

Nathans Emporium has collectibles, traditional dolls and Teddy Bears. Claren Antiques has furniture, jewellery and Silver.

Located about 45 minutes drive from Cradle Chalet past Sheffield

Anvers Chocolates, the most popular attraction for the sweet tooth, is located at Latrobe - about a 45 minute drive from Cradle Chalet through Sheffield
Ashgrove Farm Cheese specialize in the production of award winning English Country style cheeses using traditional recipes and manufacturing techniques. The cheese is manufactured from milk produced on the farm by the 800 cow dairy herd ensuring the highest quality standards are maintained throughout the process.

The cheese factory is on the Bass Highway 20 minutes from Devonport and 10 minutes from Deloraine. Visitors can view the cheese making area and sample the range of cheeses available.

Honey varieties can be tasted at Stephens Honey Factory in Mole Creek and the Honey Farm in Chudleigh (about 5 minutes from Mole Creek) where visitors can enjoy free honey tasting, buy gourmet honey ice cream and other products and watch thousands of bees making honey in the indoor exhibition hive.

Lake Barrington is located at the base of the Forth River Valley. It is an artificial lake that was created by the building of the 84 metre high Devils Gate Dam on the Forth River for hydro-electric power production in 1969.

The lake is 20 kilometres long and a feature of this recreation area is an international standard rowing course with comprehensive competitor and spectator facilities. The course is used for local, interstate and international rowing, skiing and canoeing competitions. The international rowing competition is held approximately every four years.

This course is located about 20 minutes drive from Cradle Chalet.
41° south Salmon Farm & EcoExperience near Deloraine offers self-guided tours for viewing the fish farm, flora and fauna plus learning about the ways in which they interact with this unique ecosystem. The key attractions are the fish farm itself, ginseng plantation, fish feeding, walks through a natural and man-made wetland with dragonflies, frogs, birds, fish, platypus and nature trails to the base of our waterfall. Visitors can also discver the miracle plant ginseng and enjoy a free tasting of hot-smoked salmon products. 41º south is an eco certified ecotourism business.
Tasmazia is a colourful, miniature village set amongst a complex of mazes. Each summer, on the first Sunday of February, it is the scene for the annual Lavender Harvest Festival.
Tasmazia, is on the scenic route to Cradle Mountain from Sheffield and is one of the most visited attractions in this region.
