Attractions

Buchan Caves Guided tours are conducted daily in Royal Cave and Fairy Cave. Both caves are lit and have concrete pathways. Royal Cave features beautiful calcite-rimmed pools; Fairy Cave features elaborate stalactites and stalagmites.

Walk the Spring Creek Track (90 min return) or the shorter walks in the area.

Elite Airways Scenic & Aerobatic Flights - Enjoy a scenic flight of Lakes entrance and the ninety mile beach or a pituresque view of the islands and lakes or experieence the beauty of Victoria’s ‘high country’ with the snowy mountains adventure. Or if your after a unique experience; try an exhilierating aerobat flight with ‘figures of eight’, ‘Barrel rolls’ and loops, while the big blue sky fills the windscreen and gravitational forces push you deep into your seat.

Great Alpine Rd. The touring route through a world of contrasts. Winding its way through the mountainous country of the Alpine National Park; home of Victoria's highest mountains. From Mount Hotham, through Dinner Plain and on to Omeo, this is a place where a blanket of snow in winter becomes a carpet of wildflowers in spring, where activities range from extreme to serene.

Metung. A tiny village set in the heart of Gippsland Lakes, with its history steeped in boats, fishing and gentle life styles. It's a place that gives you time to recall the simple pleasures of life - to just be you.

Set on a thin arm of land that extends out into the Lakes. Bancroft Bay, on one side, bustles with boats, and its southern shore forms part of the Lakes National Parks. On the other side is the Lake King beach - a safe sandy beach perfect for kids, or for gentle walks.

Lake Tyers (including Nowa Nowa) Historic town and forest park on the edge of Lake Tyers. In a valley to the east of Lakes Entrance is the township, lake and 5300-hectare forest park of Lake Tyers, named after Charles Tyers. The outlet to the sea is usually closed by a sand bar; once used as a crossing for stage coaches on the Lakes Entrance to Orbost run. Access and walking tracks thread through the red ironbark, Gippsland grey box, mountain grey gum and blue gum - the remnants of an old rain forest.

Lake Tyers Boat Trips: Cruises of Lake Tyers are conducted on board the 'Rubeena'. Departs regularly from Fishermans Landing,

Bruthen. A small country town overlooking the Tambo river and surrounded by native flora and fauna. Situated on the Omeo Highway/Great Alpine Road, Bruthen boasts natural attractions such as clean, freshwater waterholes for a refreshing swim and a rain forest on the outskirts of town so pristine it's hard to believe. Central to all sports and recreational activities including: fishing, snow & water skiing, surfing, boating, bush walking and 4 WD all within a short distance.

With a small population of around 640, the town offers good old-fashioned country style hospitality. Get up and boogie or else join in and play at the blues jam held at the Bruthen Inn on the first Sunday of the month
