Attractions

Drive 22km north of Cairns on the Cook Hwy. Set your odometer so that you will know when you are almost there. Follow the signs on the Captain Cook Hwy which say, Port Douglas, Mossman. Palm Cove is 20 minutes North of Cairns and 35 minutes South of Port Douglas.

After driving 20 minutes from Cairns, you will see a sign for Cairns Tropical Zoo on the left. When you see this sign, you will know that the turn off to Palm Cove is one minute further along on the right. Turn right into Veivers Rd, go to the Esplanade, turn left, go one block and turn left again into Harpa St. The Reef Retret is the first building on the right, 10-14 Harpa St.

1 Apr 06 – 31 Mar 07 Two night’s accommodation charge if cancelled 6 days or less prior to scheduled arrival date and for no shows and early departures after arrival. Construction of a block of 16 units has recently commenced on our Eastern boundary. As a result we are no longer able to offer Ocean view Suites. Ocean view Suites were not given as on allotment so we do not anticipate there will be a need to amend your allotment schedules. However, Ocean view Suites have been made available on request. To address the issues associated with ongoing construction on our boundary industry partners should be advised that: · The project is not on our property. · The block layers and concreters finished on 1 Nov. These were the noisiest jobs. · Distribution partner clients will not be placed in affected rooms. · Affected rooms will be sold through a “construction affected special” to be promoted on last minute web sites or direct with existing clients. Distribution partner clients will be allocated rooms least affected by the work, with longer stay clients to be given priority. Be aware that construction does not usually take place on Saturday afternoon or Sunday and is normally finished by 5:00PM on weekdays. However, the Cairns City Council regulations allow construction from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM Monday to Saturday. The distances from this construction site are as follows from closest to furthest: Ocean view suites - closest (overlooking the construction site – Not allocated to wholesaler bookings) Studios - 2nd closest, but not overlooking the construction site Suites - 2nd furthest away from the construction site Spa suites - furthest from construction site If you have any concerns about noise in the studio rooms, it is recommended that guests choose suites or spa suites until the construction is complete. There is one remaining floor to go on this 4 storey building; however, we have no information on when this construction will be complete, although we would anticipate that it would not be before the end of 2006. CONSTRUCTION ADVICE FROM THE REEF RETREAT BUILDING WORKS IN ADJACENT BLOCK ON WILLIAMS ESPLANADE Latest update: 30 Jan 07 1. The projected completion date for the building in front of the reef retreat is 6 April 2007. 2. This is not part of the reef retreat. 3. If they are not finished by 5 April, there will be no work taking place over the Easter period (6 April to 9 April) 4. They are currently tiling, which is a quiet period. 5. Most of the work takes place in the front of their building, which is facing the esplanade and the furthest point from the reef retreat. 6. No or, if any, very little noise is expected from now until the completion date. Their current work takes place in front of their building so, if there is any noise at all, it most likely would not be heard at the reef retreat, as their building, a complex of 3 bedroom apartments, would be a barrier to any noise. 7. We have had no complaints related to noise since before Christmas. Construction Update - 08 Mar 07 The construction is now in the last stage with work to be carried out as follows: 1.Tiling is now being carried out and will be finished before Easter 2.(Easter holiday period 6-9 April) .The fence and landscaping will be done in the next few weeks 3.No work will be carried out from 6 to 9 April 4.If any last minute jobs are not finished by 5 April, these will be continued from 10 April, and would not be noise related jobs. We have had no expressions of concern related to noise from guests regarding the work in the adjacent block since before Christmas 2006, and we do not anticipate any inconvenience to guests from now until completion.
