About

Cape Bridgewater, only 20km from Portland, is a scenic jewel in Victoria's rugged Western coastline. Perfect waves roll in from the Southern Ocean onto a cast arc of white sand between the volcanic headlands of Cape Nelson and Cape Bridgewater. The place is practically deserted for most of the year, apart from residents who surely bask in the peace and unspoiled beauty found here.

The lodge has spacious rooms, a cosy lounge and dining room as well as two guests sitting rooms overlooking the bay which are warm and cosy, even in inclement weather you can snuggle up by the wood fire and watch the swells roll by.

Your hostess Belinda will provide a full breakfast in the downstairs dining room. Upstairs there are shared kitchen facilities for guests.

In addition the the main lodge there is also a modern two bedroom self contained holiday house that sleeps up to six and a fully self contained cottage that sleeps 4. ( please view links)

Attractions

Visitors to Cape Bridgewater will be breath taken with the magnificent views and beaches.
Cape Bridgewater has so much to see and offer. Popular recreational activities include surfing, wind surfing, fishing, swimming, diving, boating, jet skiing, water skiing, gliding, and much more.

Cape Bridgewater also has many outstanding attractions which are just a short walk or drive away, these include:_

Petrified Forest/ Blowholes / Springs

Drive up over the cape to the blowholes, where waves thump into the rocks sending spectacular spouts of spray skywards.

It is here you will also find the Petrified Forest. This will intrigue you. This forest is not petrified wood. It is thought to have been a forest of melaleuca which was gradually covered by sand. With water seeping down through the sand, a crust of sandstone was formed on the outside edge of the tree trunks which then gradually increased in size.

A 2 km walk west of the headland reveals
freshwater springs created when saltwater is filtered through limestone. This area of the Discovery Bay Coastal Park also has the highest coastal cliffs in Victoria, 130 metres above sea level.

Seal Colony

Seal point at Cape Bridgewater is home for up to 850 Australian and New Zealand Fur Seals and is one of the most popular natural attractions in the the South West.

Access to view the seals is available by walking track or via a 3 minute boat ride operated by Seals by the Sea tours.

This ride will take you alongside the rock platforms and into the watery cave where you will experience a unique interaction within the seals natural habitat.

Bookings are essential and can be arranged by us at Seaview Lodge or by calling direct C&J Austin on(03) 55267247 or mob 0427267247.
