About
Redcliffe House grew from two C1835 convict-built farm cottages to a warm and inviting farmhouse, and is now an idyllic bed and breakfast escape on the northern boundary of Swansea on Tasmania’s beautiful east coast. The property is an absolute haven – vineyard, beautiful gardens, huge paddock with impressive gum trees alongside the Meredith River, which has permanent water holes for those people who want to take a dip in warmer waters than the nearby ocean. The Hazards of Freycinet National Park are visible over the tops of the trees. The grounds have plenty of facilities for guests who wish to make use of them – tables, garden seating, umbrellas – there is enough room for people to find a spot away from the others, if that is their wish … and our bird and animal life provide plenty of entertainment for those who wish to spend some time at peace with their environment, possibly with a glass of wine in hand.
Since Redcliffe House is only 1.5 kms from Swansea’s restaurants, bars, galleries and other attractions, it will appeal to those people who want the facilities of a town but somewhere peaceful to spend the evening, with a clear view of the Milky Way and star formations, and a comfortable bed to sleep in. Redcliffe’s guest lounge has port and sherry, plenty of books and other reading material and games to play. Otherwise, the veranda offers a peaceful setting and the possibility that a wombat, possum, wallaby or pademelon might just happen past.
For entertainment, we have a good selection of DVDs, which we make available to our guests free of charge.
Redcliffe’s appeal is to all age groups and to people of many different backgrounds – in fact, to anybody seeking a truly uplifting experience.
